Hi Everyone!

Believe it or not, I'm attempting to run 26.2 miles in the Mayor's Midnight Sun Marathon in Anchorage Alaska, June 22, 2002! No, I'm not a super athlete, just an average person like yourselves, wanting to achieve a personal goal, while benefiting others.

I have joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Program. Each year Team in Training prepares runner, walkers, cyclists and triahtletes to participate in an accredited endurance event nationwide as a fundraising program for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In return for professional training with a team, participants raise funds to be used to fight against blood related cancers.

I will be running this marathon for the life of a patient honoree, a woman in Denver, who was diagnosed with AML in 1995 and is currently in remission.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is a national voluntary health agency dedicated to curing Leukemia, Lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and Myeloma to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. The Society supports five major programs; research, patient financial aid, patient services, public and professional education and community services.

I would greatly appreciate any contribution in support of my efforts that you can offer. Big or small, it will be put to good use. Twenty Five years ago, the survival rate of children diagnosed with Leukemia was 5%. Today, the survival rate is 81%! If that isn't a testament to the success of fundraising efforts like Team in Training, I don't know what is. Yet, Leukemia remains the #1 killer of children.

If you feel you would like to help be part of this goal, please click on donate. All donations are 100% tax deductible.

Training for a marathon is quite a challenge - one that I have never faced before. But my challenge is nothing compared to the challenge that patients and their families have to overcome on a daily basis battling these cancers. Thanks in advace for your consideration in supporting this effort.

Sincerely,
Robyn Linstrom
